World Series Game 7 Captures 51M Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series averaged 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the total US average reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
